Edgware announce 2021 tours to Liverpool and Malta

Edgware Cricket Club will tour Liverpool and Malta in 2021 (COVID-19 permitting) after the executive committee announced the proposed schedule on Monday 22 February.

The move comes on the back of a frustrating 12 months for all those in the UK who have faced extended periods of isolation and loss of friends and family. "Whilst it's incredibly exciting news to announce these tours today, we'd like to make it clear that we do not intend to put any of our player's health at risk. The club will only look to travel to Liverpool and Malta should government advice permit" spoke CEO, Ciaran Hosty at the Teams Meeting press conference staged for the local press.

Edgware's tour of Liverpool is proposed for the end of June between gaps in the league fixture schedule and Edgware will travel to Liverpool on Wednesday 23 June, before playing fixtures on Thursday 24 June and Friday 25 June against local opposition. Players on the tour will then return home on either the Saturday or Sunday as opportunities to arrange fixtures on these days are unlikely due to the preference for league cricket over social cricket on weekends in the city.

Edgware's tour of Malta is proposed to take place on the last weekend in October and Edgware will arrive on Wednesday 27 October, play a T20 on Thursday 28 October and then two 40 over fixtures against Marsa Cricket Club on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October. The players will then fly home on Monday 1 November.

The anticipated costs for the Liverpool tour will be confirmed over the next few weeks but will depend on the arrangement of hotels and transport. However, Malta will be priced at £359 per person for 5 nights with accommodation, transfers from the airport and on game days, lunch on game days and ground hires all included. Anyone interested in the Malta tour will need to contact Ciaran Hosty ASAP to secure their play and pay a £15 deposit which will be returned if the tour cannot go ahead.
