Ruthless Edgware beat Chipperfield to top league
Edgware topped off a weekend of sun with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Chipperfield at the ECG.
Put into field after losing the toss, Edgware quickly hit their strides with the new ball and the opening partnership of Rohan and Raj worked wonders as Edgware reduced Chipperfield to 38-5 in the first 12 overs. It got worst for Chipperfield as consistent pressure from Edgware's first change bowlers, including Ashish, Vidanda and Jude strangled the run rate and left the batting side 67-7 at drinks. However, Bruce Samson's 34 off 72 balls resurrected Chipperfield's misfortune as they managed to recover to a respectable 123 all out after 38 overs.
With the bat, Edgware started their response with intent and aggression, racing to 43-0 off 6 overs, before captain Ciaran Hosty was caught at square leg for 21. Nakul Jilka (31) and Sunny Halai (6) followed soon after to reduce Edgware to 84-3, however, 'batting wonder boy', Sajith Sriwickramasekaran and Shuraj Vekaria then guided Edgware home with a 40 run partnership to set up a 7-wicket win for the boys in blue.

The result puts Edgware comfortably at the top of the Chess Valley League division 5 after the first round of games, in which rivals Belmont & Edgware sit in third.
